"...SPECIES...

Mix "Alien" with "ET" and "The Fugitive" and you get this sci-fi thriller, the story of a half-alien, half-human named Sil who needs to find an Earth man to make a baby with. But no extraterrestrial ever looked like this. Film newcomer Natasha Henstridge, a Canadian-born fashion model and the main attraction here, is a gorgeous, leggy blonde. Sil's problem is that she's never quite been socialized: she has this nasty habit of killing prospective mates who don't measure up. So a team of specialists (Ben Kinsgley, Michael Madsen, Forest Whitaker, Marg Helgenberger) have to track her down. It's a lively, if gory, chase and campy fun."

TV GUIDE, December 9-15, 1995

The MGM movie starred Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen, Alfred Molina, Marg Helgenberger, and Natasha Hendstridge, and had a a very cool H.R. Giger monster in it.

Species. So you've seen the movie and think you know all about it? Not. Hollywood is full of sparkle and glitter-- and a big ol' pair of scissors when it comes to screenplays. Scriptwriter Dennis Feldman had a much more involved vision for Species than what made it to the screen, and he worked closely with writer Yvonne Navarro to capture the true essence of his work in the novelization based on his script. The book contains all the wonderful scenes, science, and character development cut from the three script drafts in the interest of movie budgets and shooting schedules. Now out of print, the book had a printing of over 100,000 copies, including an abridged audiobook version that garnered actor Alfred Molina the the 1996 Audie Award for Best Solo Performance.
